Travel

East Lansing doesn’t have a commercial airport however there are a multitude of ways to travel to East Lansing. There is a CATA transportation center on campus which has a parking garage and bus stops as well as an Amtrak train station.

Airports:

  • From Lansing Capital Region International Airport, it’s about a 15–20-minute drive via Uber ($40), Lyft ($40), rental car, or cab ($25). Be advised there are not a lot of flights in and out of Lansing airport and thus not a lot of ride shares so you may have to wait 20-30 minutes for an Uber or Lyft. You can also take the Line 14 bus ($2) and transfer to the Line 01 bus ($2) at the CATA Trans Center. This will drop you off right on campus and takes about 58 minutes.
  • From DTW (Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport), it’s about 1 hour and 15 minutes by Uber, Lyft, rental car, or cab. You can also take any number of buses from the airport to East Lansing (https://www.michiganflyer.com/ScheduleRoute.aspx, $24-$35) which takes 2 hours and 5 minutes.
